Our life is like a river

We Westerners have been pushing the river. Desperately. For two centuries. And what has the result been? It seems to me more like disaster than success. So wouldn't it be more honest to recognize that we all project onto “reality” what is in our own hearts? If our hearts are old, tired, cynical, we will see the world that way. But if we were to be silent, listen, and allow the whispers of goodness and natural love to be freely expressed, perhaps we could see a different world.

Personally, I am grateful for the life that has given me so much, having spent 55 years in professional practice in the four corners of the globe, especially in Europe and Africa. During that time, I have always had in mind the vision of a win-win world, where everyone benefits. Because unless this goal becomes the goal of our governments and those who believe they control the fate of our planet, our future is likely to be extremely difficult and hot.

There are only two ways to grow: wisdom or suffering. It seems that humanity has too often chosen the latter option, and the pandemic that emerged in 2020 seems to tell us that it would be wise to consider a less risky path. But in the end, I am convinced that a benevolent intelligence that we cannot even imagine is pulling the real strings, and that Putin, Trump and Xi Jinping themselves are merely the (unwitting) instruments of this intelligence that will sooner or later lead us to our destination.
