The paranormal perspective: A Jungian understanding of transcendental experiences

By Susan Plunkett (www.6th-books.com)

This title might seem a bit jarring, but now that it's finished and the book is in print, let me correct it by talking about the book itself. It's about an unusual event that happened in my life. And I'm not an unusual person. Strange things happen to everyone. For example, maybe you've seen a ghost, or someone you know has seen one. Or maybe you had a friend who had ghosts when you were young. Maybe you knew something before it happened, and it happened exactly as you saw it. Maybe a loved one died and you met them in a dream or while you were awake. Or maybe you sought out a psychic to connect with a loved one who passed away, and they told you things that only they would know. Maybe you're just curious about the meaning of life, why you're here, what your purpose is. Or maybe you wonder if you've lived another life on Earth or somewhere else.

I'm a Jungian psychologist, which means I care about the same things that Carl Jung cared about: our dreams, our inner lives, our fantasies, our relationship to the invisible world, our paranormal experiences. Understanding these things is the subject of this book.

One of my transcendent, unusual, even sublime experiences happened after my sister died. I wanted to know where she was now. I wanted to know why she had to go so soon. A friend told me about Michael Newton, a psychologist in California, who, while doing past-life therapy with his patients, noticed that some people don’t just go to past lives, but to places “in between” different lives. My sister had recently died, and I thought maybe she was in that “place between lives.” I wanted to go there and meet her. Luckily, one of Michael Newton’s colleagues was in New York, and I made an appointment to meet with him. He explained that there would be two sessions, four hours each. The first session would be a regular past-life therapy session, to make sure I could handle it psychologically and not have a mental breakdown. I went to the “place between lives.” I describe that journey in detail in one of the 19 chapters of my book, in case you want to visit that place too, or hear what it’s like from my perspective. I suspect each of us will have a slightly different experience.

Another of the 19 experiences I talk about in the book is one I think many people have experienced. That is, deceased loved ones visit you in your dreams. They can also send you signs. It could be something as simple as a grasshopper, if it has meaning between you and him. In my case, my father stood next to my bed in his light body and communicated with me telepathically. After getting over the initial fear, I wanted to know where he was, if he was happy, if he had seen his sister. My father visited me twice and then informed me that he was going to be far away vibrationally and it would be more difficult to find a way, a channel, to reach where I am. One of the chapters I wrote is about my father's visit and what he told me about dying. In a word, dying is easier than being born.

Of all the paranormal events I have written about in this book, there is one that I wish never had happened. When my daughter was 16, she was possessed by a dead evil spirit that was after her body. I will always thank God for the help I received from psychic Cindy Dale in Minnesota and shaman Kelly Henwood in Australia. The five psychologists and four psychiatrists we saw were no help. Watching your child possessed, suffering, fighting for their life and feeling helpless to help them is a pain you will never experience.

I have been assisted by human shamans and intuitives, as well as guided by many in the invisible realms, in fact most of my teachers and guides were not human. I asked one of my childhood teachers, Monka, what it was like when he was human, and he said he had never been human. Years later, I learned he was a golden angel. He never mentioned it in any of our conversations. Once, I said to him, “I want to hug you, but you have no body,” and he replied, “Hold yourself, and you will understand.” He taught me things like, “Imagine what life would be like if you didn't always think there was something wrong with you. What would you do in your free time?” Monka was funny and forthright in pointing out my shadow side, especially when I was being pretentious or arrogant.

ARCs came into my life many years after Monka. They weren't just people, either. They were kind, funny people. They were the ones who told me I was a scribe and my purpose in life was to write. “Don't worry about what to write,” they said. “Eat a cookie, drink a cocktail, and everything will be told to you.”

Whenever ARC or Mongka are around, my heart sheds the sweetest tears.

One of my early paranormal teachers was Seth. Reading the “Seth Material” as a young girl was both scary and exciting for me, but more exciting than scary, so I only continued to read it when someone else was home. It was Seth who helped me understand how we move between different realities instantly and how many realities overlap each other. Seth was channeled by Jane Roberts, but unlike Monka and ARC, Seth was once a human being, a long time ago.

Before I finish this article, I want to talk about Ra, which I also wrote about in my book. Ra is a 6th dimensional group entity that I communicated with in the early 1980s through a voice channel called Carla Rueckart. Ra is an amazing being. You can read all the transcripts for yourself in The Law of One. Ra/They created one of the pyramids using only thought. Ra is like the icing on the paranormal cake for me, the cherry on top of my understanding of what we are doing here on Earth. Aside from the general idea that we are here to awaken to our powers. Ra provides so much information and detail about how the universe is constructed and organized. Mongka never wanted that. He wanted it to be revealed when each of us was ready, just like the Ark, but Ra is more intense. He wants as many people as possible to realize what their lives are for now, in this auspicious moment of Earth's ascension.

I've had an amazing, terrifying, heartbreaking and soul-filling journey in this life, and if you're interested, I share some of the paranormal aspects of it in my new book, A Jungian Understanding of Transcendental Experiences, which is part of a series on the paranormal.
